Ethan is now 20lbs 4oz! And is massive! He is doing so well! We have not increased his feeds as per his new weight as he is doing rather well and dont want him to do too well! Which for me is an amazing thing to think about seeing as we have spent so long wanting him to put on weight! We are in the local paper today, it is a good article in responce to the poor woman who lost her baby at 22weeks after doctors refused to help the baby. I am sad that the woman had to go through so much, and that her treatment was not up to any one standards by any means! I can only hope lessons will be learned and people trained so it doesnt happen again. However as I have said before I do think that the 23 week limit on premature babies is fair and just at present. Not many 23 weekers do survive and those that do - from what I have seen have many medical problems.
There is a comment in the paper that sounds like I mean I would not want my baby resusitated if doctors said they think it is in the best interest. What I meant and the full comment was, if I had a baby born earlier than 23 weeks, before I had Ethan I would have wanted the best care for that baby and for doctors to do their all. After Ethan I think if it was to happen, I would be more accepting of the fact, after seeing what Ethan and some of the children we have met have been through.
That said it is very easy to say something when you are not in that situation.
Also the paper states I have a daughter age 10, I have step daughter age 10 and a son age 9 called Ben.
Just wanted to clear that up.
I went for a lovely walk today with my friend Tara who has twins Kiera and Stella
